Since the Renaissance, each work of art has worked on themes worthy of aesthetic expression, concepts of artistic value — posing new questions, reflecting on new techniques, styles of painting and sculpture, new harmonies and consonances in music, mastering unusual gestures and habits, different genres and quality criteria.

Along with this, the initiative for the theoretical application of art concepts to fields completely outside the artistic sphere, within the aesthetics of the everyday, was expressed by philosophers such as David Best, Wolfgang Welsch, and Lev Kreft, proposing to perceive sport as an art form.

Feminist aesthetics also advocated for including types of senses beyond the usual sight and hearing in the field of aesthetics, which can also contribute to the creation of aesthetic experience — for example, taste (Carolyn Korsmeyer) and smell (Emily Brady).
